This website was developed as part of a 3rd year "special study module" called "The Role of the Internet in Medicine". Special study modules are opportunites for students to gain more knowledge in subjects that interest them outside the core curriculum. |
Once Lori began meeting patients, she quickly became aware that many of them are taking complementary medicines - and conventional medical training in this country does not include teaching on these preparations. |
This website has been designed to begin to provide some of that information, using evidence available from conventional medical literature. Although the principal idea is to monitor side effects and interactions that may occur, the purpose is not to dismiss the use of herbal preparations, but rather to give medical professionals information and education so that they may competently advise their patients. |
